I'm not sure how other dashcams work but the Thinkware F50 dashcam I have records video in 1 minute increments. I have a 64 GB memory card which will record 496 minutes of video so it would take a long time to get to the file to overwrite it even with the 8 GB card that comes with the unit. It also has a G-sensor, that when activated (such as when in an accident) will lock the video so it is not overwritten.
I would recommend:
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If the car is still on yes it will still continue to record but there is a separate folder on the memory stick that saves impacts and stores it

So while the dash cam will continue to run and overwrite footage, it will only affect the Continuous Recording folder. We hope this answers your question! Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This dash camera is equipped with a shock sensor. Basically when the camera senses an impact the camera will beep twice and then save that moment within another file on the micro SD card that cannot be written over. The only way to erase the video at that point Is to load the card on a computer and manually select the file to erase. There is no need to work about lost video with this awesome camera.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The camera does automatically record over the oldest video on the card once it is full. However, the camera has an impact sensor (which you can adjust the sensitivity of) that automatically records the minute before and minute after the impact is measured and places those recordings in a separate folder that is not autmatically overwritten. I started at maximum sensitivity and it would beep and save the video to the safe folder when i went over speed bumps. I have adjusted the sensitivity down and now it only beeps when i cross railroad tracks too hard or I hit a big pothole. That should be enough to measure any accident and record. Oh yeah, the impact sensor recordings are saved until you manually delete them.
