Yes you can upgrade to the pro service to get location history but it is not a mandatory service if you don’t need the upgraded features.

For normal tracking functionality, no. They have a new premium service with monthly fee which provides something extra, not sure what. I've been using Tile for 2 years without any subscription and have found lost items more than once.

No. It's tracked by phone and no extra free required

no. but for a fee you can upgrade to a premium level, but i have found that the basic level works just fine.
