    • Answer I don't know. Just got these new Tiles that allow battery replacement. Batteries supposed to last about a year. I did check price and availability of replacement batteries for when time comes to replace...not very costly and stocked by Best Buuy. The sound is much louder on these too compared to old Tile slim that I bought last year and used as Christmas stocking gift to help Santa!

  • QuestionI see the Mate has GPS and the Pro does not. Does this mean that the GPS enabled Mate would only show on a map as to where the item is, and the Pro would send a signal to my phone? Does the Mate also send signal to phone? How does the GPS work?

    • Answer It's a one-to-one ratio. Think about it. You attach the tile to an item, and it's connected to THAT item. If you want to use it on another item, you would have to take it off the first item or buy another tracker.

    • Answer https://support.thetileapp.com/hc/en-us/articles/200547688-Is-my-Tile-dust-or-waterproof- Tile Pro is only “splash proof” with its IP55 rating. The convenience of a replaceable battery means a lower weather ability versus the sealed Sport tiles (IP67). I am not sure you will be able to “track” a ferel hog in the manner you expect. Tiles use Bluetooth to communicate (with phones) and the Pro tiles list their range as 300 feet (less in brush probably). The phone app then uses its cellular and gps connections to “locate” the Tile periodically. The app can’t know where the Tile is unless its within range long enough to recognize it. You’l have to walk along within range of the hog’s Tile to “continuously track it, or happen to wander within range at the feeding or bedding times to get a location mark. The location recorded is the location of the phone. To locate the out of sight Tile you could signal the Tile to ring and if you hear it, find it. The app can also give you a rough indication of relative proximity based on signal strength (getting warmer or colder so to speak).

    • Answer It’s fine for short range. I would recommend getting a dedicated GPS tracker for a pet or vehicle. Tile long range tracking depends on other users having the app open on their devices. It’s wonderful for finding your misplaced keys or phone.

  • QuestionWe have one set of keys shared by several users so only need one tile. Can I link one tile to multiple phones? For example - If the keys leave the building I would need each person to be able to check in their own location (office/house/car etc).

    • Answer The Tile's themselves only have a range of 100 - 150 ft, with some models I think upwards up 300 ft -- However, the App used on your phone, and others phone, will anonymously update a lost Tile's location, so for example, say you have a Tile in your luggage, and it is left behind. If someone else has the Tile App nearby on their phone, it will send a beacon to their phone, which will update it's location.... this is how the tile community works. The person nearby your Tile doesn't even know they've updated the location, which is a nice feature.... no info is shared.

  • QuestionHow much phone battery life does keeping the tile app running all the time consume off your phone?

    • Answer I have had a different experience from the other reports from users . I have an iPhone 6s and before installing the tile I easily had enough battery for a full day starting around 7:30 am - recharging again around 11pm with still a decent reserve. After installing the app and using 3 tiles I find I am in the red (below 20%) battery left by 5pm. To check I turned the tile Bluetooth, background refresh and location off for a day and consumption went back to normal.

Although Tile has the ability to reliably track personal belongings, it wasn't designed for tracking people. Since Tile uses Bluetooth to keep track of your things, it can find something that is within up to a 400-foot range. Because Tile doesn't offer the same live tracking that a GPS device would, it's not the most reliable source for keeping up with something that's moving around relatively quickly. We recommend Tile to be used for things like your wallet, keys, school supplies, or something your kids tend to misplace often. If you do decide to use Tile for tracking another person, you can utilize the power of our Tile Community when that Tile is out of range. Once a Tile is marked as lost within the app, any person who comes within range of your Tile with the app running will anonymously send you an updated location. Speed and accuracy of location updates depend on the size of the Community in your area, so we don't normally suggest relying on Tile to find a missing child or senior.
