“Can I add this toi my existing service to repalce a box that is failing? I was quoted 4 times this price by Tivo for the same unit. DO I need to get another service for this to work or can I use my existing service and use this as a repalcemnt box for the one that failed?”

This will not accept a cable box card. It is for over the air broadcast TV only. It only has an antenna connection. I "cut the cord" to cable about 2 years ago and have never looked back. I bought this and a Roku 3 and have all the programming I could ever want to watch (with Netflix and Hulu Plus subscriptions). I went from paying $105 a month for cable to paying around $30 for my current combination.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.TIVO charges $15 per month per receiver. If you simply exchange one receiver for another it should be the same price. They would only charge more if you left them both active. You would have to call them to deactivate the old one.
