- Answer If you have recorded an OTA program, then pause, rewind, and fast fwd work fine. For live TV, you can pause or rewind only, of course.

- Answer I'm no expert, but the TiVo Roamio OTA device uses a broadband connection (and $15/mo service fee) to connect your TiVo Roamio OTA device to Tivo services, such as your TV channel guide info, Season Pass features, and most notably, streaming services, such as Netflix, VUDU, Hulu Plus, Amazon Video, YouTube, Pandora, etc. Without a broadband connection, you should probably consider the Channel Master DVR+ instead, because without the TiVo Service, the TiVO Roamio OTA device would behave similarly to an old VCR, and you must manually schedule your recordings by knowing the channel, date and time of future programs in order to record them (no Season Pass, TiVo Suggestions, etc.) The TiVo Service subscription also gives you mobile device control over your TiVo recordings, especially when you're not sitting in front of your TV. - Answer You can not use it without a TIVO subscription. I attempted to "test" it for OTA and such before subscribing. I could fumble through and get to the live TV, but only sorta. It knows when you have not subscribed and is not designed to work without a subscription.

- Answer I have two Tivo Roamio's, all i use is my HD antenae, I have no problems recording my local shows. I also record programs while using wi-fi. It really is very simple. Just wanted to pass that along! The best thing I have ever used for saving my favorites shows.

- Answer No, the Tivo is a separate component and works independently of the TV. Although the OTA antenna must go into the Tivo first.

- Answer Not sure what your intentions here are... The short answer is yes, but Both are stand alone media consumption devices with different capabilities. I have a romio ota with a fire stick, Google TV and Chromecast in one room and a tivo mini, fire tv and Chromecast in another. Each has its own benefit and flaws.

- Answer The TiVo Roamio OTA has both RF and IR. So it uses RF to the TiVo and can use IR to control the TV.

- Answer This will connect to one TV. You can add an additional set using a Tivo Mini which unfortunately costs about 3 times what the Roamio OTA does, but it has no additional monthly fee. I use this setup in my house for our 2 TVs and it works very well.

- Answer All you need is a good digital antenna. I use a Mohu Leaf Ultimate and get great signal. Broadband (maybe 6 Mbps or better) is needed if you want to watch any of the streaming services that this connects to like Netflix or Hulu Plus..

- Answer I believe you can. Mine still did all the start up stuff before I officially activated it on the TIVO website. I'm not sure if you would get updates and such if you don't activate it for a while.

QuestionTivo with a smart TV?I already have a smart TV (i.e., it has apps like Netflix, Hulu Plus, etc., which I've already subscribed to.) I'm interested in this TIVO mostly for live pause/rewind and recording of programs. How will this interface with my smart TV? Can I still access the apps through that, or will I need to set up my accounts all over again?

- Answer We have a smart tv, yes you can access your accounts. you do not have to set up your accounts again just login to Netflix on TIVO. you can still access your Netflix button or use smart tv apps. either one will work, as long as you have subscribed to ex Netflix Amazon or any of the other programs.

- Answer This probably isn't for you then. Most people have some kind of internet service at home. If you're planning on using you cell phone to access the internet and pay for data usage this would be too expensive.
