“can I download a .tivo file to my iPad using Stream for playback when away from wireless? just wondering if its only streaming or can I download for playback later. And can I get to my tivo system from the Internet (i.e. from outside my home network) or does it only work on devices connect to my home network?”

• The answer depends on your mobile device. Currently Android devices only Stream no Download available. Due to an iOS limitation Apple devices can't stream via 3G/4G and can only download on those networks. If you connect to a public WiFi or any WiFi you can stream to any device. Copy Protected content can only stream on your home network. And iOS devices will only download protected content to your device IF it is allowed to delete the copy on your DVR, there is no way to move said content back to your DVR. Download capability for Android is expected Spring 2015.

• It does not download a .tivo file. It compresses the file for storage on the iPad. It stores the file inside the application - the files are not able to be accessed via iTunes. So, you can download (unless the content is copyright protected) for later playback. You can access your home system from outside your home. Note that if the internet service is of low quality/speed you may have problems viewing live and/or downloaded shows.

• It is streaming only, but you have to set up a Tivo - Moca network simular to Wifi before it does anything. It interfares with wifi and looses signal all the time

• Yes you can download most Tivo programming to your iPad. There are a few restricted (by the producers) programs (i.e. Shameless on SHO would not let me download to my iPad).
