• It uses the most used roads. As long as you keep its maps updated I think you will be alright. I have never had a problem with it messing up on me

• It is supposed to give you shortest & fastest route. For the most part it seems to work. But sometimes it makes you take un needed extra turns. I would look for something that allows you to search by business type or name. Especially if it is being used in a taxi.
