Purchased a Pebble SmartWatch tonight at Target but it syncs with phone and you have to run with phone and watch. Trying to find a solution where the phone is not needed for running.”

• I've used it without having my phone on me. The band captures the data and you can sync it with your phone later. It also appears on the Garmin Connect web application.

• You do not have to have your phone with you for the stopwatch to work.

• Phone is not needed. This is a full stand alone gps unit.

• You can leave your phone at home! The TomTom Spark has GPS, music, and heart rate monitor. I sync all data with my phone afterwards. You can set up to automatically upload to other apps, as well (e.g., Strava, MapMyRun, etc).
