I believe that you have to have the separate unit that attaches to the radio to get the live updates but yes it has that feature/ not sure what the other part is called

Hello Pete, The VIA 1415M does not give live traffic updates. However, you can purchase an RDS-TMC receiver that will provide you with subscription free traffic updates. Thanks
