This GPS requires constant power.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It comes with a minimum charge time but needs to be charged often depending on use. I think it lasts off the cord for 2 hrs, so I leave it connected all the time. (Even if not using, it alerts you to nearby speed cameras if its on) If its plugged in all the time, it will sense when you shut the car off and it will go to sleep in 15 secs but you can cancel it shutting off for a time if you still need to use it when the car isn't running. If you have an older unit, I don't think you will like the new version. The old one was better. Also if you use it or have it connected all the time, at some point the battery will not charge anymore, and you will have to get a new one. The price varies alot (105-159.99 this year)
