Some (VIA) models provide a special power cord that warns of traffic jams and offers to reroute if a shorter (time) route is available. If you get that model, keep the cord. it works with other VIA models that do not include it. (I forgot what model had that) without the cord you cannot get traffic updates. I've been using Tom-Toms for over 10 years, and they usually last about twice as long as the warranty. If you go for a model that requires cell phone, watch whether that hookup is free, or an extra charge (Another feature that I was unhappy with on the Tom-Tom GO.)
