“My new tv was stuck on language selection. I found the fix on youtube to hold down the home button for 30 secs then try( I actually held it for a min ) that fixed it... but is this a common occurrence or are there know issues with this tv? thanks”

The remote works using Bluetooth technology, it might get disconnected but it is easy to pair. Also, you can download the Amazon Fire TV app on your Smartphone to control your TV over Wi-Fi.
