You need to press the power button to turn it on.

Fortunately I didn't have to bother trying to set this feature to work by going into the service menu of the tv. Been using it the last 2 days and very happy with it. I calibrated the set some to suit the video it pushes out with the rest of my hardware. Testing well and as planned for my upright arcade cabinet project and will be perfect! Good buy too for just $110 shipped to my door. Hope this helps others.

"If power is interrupted while you are viewing TV, the LastModeMemory feature automatically turns on your TV when the power is restored" Hoping you are incorrect and someone can test this for me. I won't get my TV shipment from Best Buy until April 9th to test this specific feature so I will know soon enough.
