Yes, there are a number of brands of HDMI cables. However, I have found that the name on the packaging really doesn't make a difference. As long as you get one within your budget (a good deal of HDMI cables are inexpensive) and are the right length to connect your blu-ray to the HDTV (I would recommend 6' to be on the safe side)... you should be fine.

I only have generic cords and i have 1080p coming from my ps3 and my computer onto my tvs. But if you want to be fancy pants get the name brand.
