Excellent Budget TV
Posted .After moving to a new apartment, I'd been looking to replace my LG 32" TV. It used to be in my room at my rents' place, but now having a couch and sitting further back, 32" wasn't cutting it. I found this Toshiba 43" Open Box - Geek Squad Certified deal and took the plunge. I was hesitant, especially not hearing many good things about any TV brands other than LG, Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, Vizio, etc. I'm happy to say that this TV, for the price, is outstanding. I will say that when I took the TV out of the box it had some scuffs on the black plastic trim around the screen; it was open box after all. I took some Meguiar's Plastic Polish and a microfiber cloth and buffed this area a little bit, cleaned the screen with a white vinegar/water solution, and did an all over dusting and now it looks like a brand new item. The Toshiba won't have all the bells and whistles of some of the higher end TV's, but it doesn't cost nearly as much either. It's not a Smart TV, it doesn't have a 120 Hz+ refresh rate, but it's a solid unit with solid performance. I would say the key thing with this TV is to know what you're buying. I'll outline it's performance below. The picture, for me, is fantastic. Now, I'm using this TV primarily for gaming and the occasional DVD nothing more nothing less. I don't need to see the pores or the individual hairs of people on the screen. Why? Because even if I wanted to I can't. As an Xbox 360/Playstation 3 owner, the games' graphics aren't that high. I did some trials on some of my most graphically demanding games however and the TV showed them beautifully. Blacks were nice and dark, colors were vibrant and popped (where they needed to) and there was no motion blur or errors in places there shouldn't have been. For most, this TV will look fantastic. 1080P LED has been a solid choice for years and still is. If you don't demand to see the finest details TV's can offer, this Toshiba will more than please. If you absolutely must have the latest and greatest, look elsewhere. What really impressed me about this TV was the speaker system. I have never heard built-in TV speakers that sounded this good. I was using an iSound sound bar on my old 32" TV because the speakers weren't anything special, but the Toshiba blows even the sound bar out of the water. Highs are nice and clear with no distortion, there's a strong bass, and the DTS surround sound is equally impressive. The sound really does go from one end of the TV to another like surround sound and it projects so well you'd swear you had speakers on the side of you. All in all for the price I got it for, this TV was a steal. I hadn't heard much about Toshiba TV's but if they continue to stay in the market I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. I highly recommend this TV for someone who wants a "Mustang" of TV's. Yeah it's not a "Ferrari" but it's not trying to be. It's an incredibly strong performer in its own right.

Dad's Birthday
||Posted .It's not everyday that your Dad turns 75! My Dad was extremely pleased to receive this for his Birthday....had it out of the box and set up in the bedroom within the half hour. Was easy to hook up and now he can watch the races in style when Mom is watching the Hallmark channel in the living room. Very clear picture quality.

Weeks of daily use and still loving it!
||Posted .Its perfect for my needs. It works with my Roku, antenna, and my direct TV cable. The image quality is great and is really light weight so I can easily move it if necessary all by myself. The settings are accessed easy so I can still watch TV at night with my 3 month old by turning the brightness down. It's awesome. Well worth the 199.00 I paid

Exactly what I was looking for
||Posted .We recently lost 3 tv's during a lightening strike and I needed an inexpensive tv for football and I needed it quick. This was the perfect size and price. It doesn't have the bells and whistles, but I didn't need any. I mounted it on a wall outside in the covered patio. It has pleny of volume and a great picture.

I love it!
Posted .Got it on sale for $199! The picture is great and comparable to TV's that are much more expensive. It sounded decent for the minute I tried the TV speakers. I hooked up my sound bar for better quality. Small rear facing speakers is the price you pay for the beautiful sleek look of all TV's like this. Fine the way it is but I love my surround sound movie nights! Plugged in an Amazon fire stick and I've got a wifi tv on the cheap!

Q: QuestionDoes this tv have screens on both sides or is it one of those old-fashioned, single sided tv's? It's about time they made ALL TV'S to see the tv from the bedroom AND the bathroom.
Asked by Screens.
- A:Answer Not only does it have a screen on both sides, but a very slender screen on the edge so you can get a glimpse of the show while you head to the bathroom. :-)

Q: QuestionCan this tv be mounted?
Asked by dreday.
- A:Answer This tv can be mounted, but it is NOT a standard 200 x 200 vesa mount. You'll need to make sure you get a wall mount with the ability to adapt to the very uncommon 300 x 200 vesa mount.

Q: QuestionJust wondering how the clarity of picture is without cable tv installed.
Asked by maya.
- A:Answer It works fine without cable tv. We only have local tv, HD tv and the picture and sound work great. We also connect to laptop with internet and watch programs in that way. It works fantastic either way.

Q: QuestionIf you can't get WiFI does that mean we can't get NetFlex?
Asked by Gray.
- A:Answer It's not a smart tv it does not connect to the internet you really don't need a tv to do so. Save money and buy an Apple TV or Amazon Fire stick etc. all those have Netflix viewing. With these you plug into the hdmi port and start watching.

Q: Questioncan I get all basic channels? I don't have cable. .
Asked by PAUL.
- A:Answer If you don't have cable, you will have to hook up an antenna. Depending on the strength of the antenna and where you are located you will only receive a certain amount of channels.

Q: Questiontv is showing pixel as 720 instead of 1080 how to adjust
Asked by john.
- A:Answer The TV automatically shows the definition of the signal you are receiving. If it is showing a 720 signal then that is what the line/signal coming into the TV has. Usually only OTA signals are 1080 unless you are using a cable box from a provider and have subscribed to their HD package.
