what is the width between the two arms of the stand null

The two arms are attached to the TV at an angle so the opening between them is wider in the front and narrower in the back. I don't know whether they could be attached straight - the arms are each a solid piece of about 10 inches in total length - sticking out by 4 inches in the front and about the same in the back. The distance between the two tips of the arms in the front is 27 1/2 inches on my set.
