I did further research on this and found a setting for "screensaver", which I initially thought was like a screensaver on a computer. It was set apparently by default for 15 minutes. Changing this setting to "never" solved the problem.

This is a default of the tv. There is a button underneath. I continuously had to unplug it I got tired and took it back.
