• Just use the buttons on the remote to control your Fire TV Edition television. Try this: Home > Settings > Display & Sounds > Power On and select Last Input. David M. - Toshiba Support

• Yes I use it with direct tv on hdmi 1 - if I restart - shut it off, or sleep timer it off, it will still start up on HDMI but you have to adjust it to do it in settings...
