• I don't think so. The VCR does not have a tuner. The only way you can television channels is if you have a cable or satellite box. If you don't go through the box you don't get the channels. I use to have a setup with a splitter. I had two connections so that when I was recording from cable I could switch and watch TV on another channel as in one of my connections wasn't through the cable box. I'm not able to do this with this VCR. I'm thinking if you don't have a box you can't watch broadcast TV when it's on and thus can't record from it, either.
