• A:Answer You will need to have cable TV or Satellite service or a separate Digital TV analog receiver to receive any TV Stations in your local area, to get a picture . This machine does not have a built in TV tuner and can NOT be used to receive a TV signal on it's own. You May hook Up any compatible Video source to the input on the back or front of VCR/DVD recorded to view or record it's source. If you have a HD TV, you can hook up the antenna to it and scan for channel in your local area to watch, but you cannot record them.

• A:Answer Yes , This Product works well with my Vizio HD Smart tv. there are at least 3 Options, 1 HDMI input for digital , Composite or component, the round colored connections if available on your set, or through the inputs on an Audio Video Receiver. then set TV or Receiver to appropriate inputs to view on the TV.

Q: QuestionCoax cableI see on the back of the unit there is a coax plug, but it doesn't look like one. Is this because an adapter is needed, or because coax can be directly plugged in?

• A:Answer You probably need an RF modulator that you can purchase at Best Buy for about $20.00. That unit will accept the incoming coax cable and then you will run coax to the TV. You will then connect the modulator to the VCR/DVD unit with RCA cables. Those are the color coordinated cables with the fat plug in wires instead of the skinny coax cable. Hope this helps.

Q: QuestionDoes this VCR have a copy protection feature?I had a Magnavox VCR and now have a Sanyo VCR (both DVD/VCR combo units). The Magnovox VCR and subsequently the Sanyo VCR (brand new out of the box have difficulty recording video provided by Comcast (this SUDDENLY started 7/1/15). The color fades and the video picture fades in and out on tthe recorded tape. Per the instructions in the Sanyo owner's manual (I think also in the Magnavox). I think the VCRs are actually "thinking" that I'm trying to record a tape from a copyrighted tape via RCA cables.. I've been "working" with Comcast on this and the latest is that they think maybe the RCA cables are the problem and they've offered to provide me with DVR service for one year in order to record any "new" programming. I thought I'd check into the Toshiba DVD/VCR unit to see if it has the same copy protection features the the Magnavox and Sanyo units have (My last request of Comcast was for them to check with their legal department to see whether they suddenly added a copyright signal on their broadcasts or with their broadcast operations department to see whether they reduced the "power" of their signal due to "environmental/power usage" concerns) Does the Toshiba unit have the same copyright protection features that my Magnavox/Sanyo units have? Do you have any other ideas that would help me out? Please advise. Thanks!

• A:Answer Yes, this machine has copy protection devises installed and will stop recording if audio or watermark signals are detected . by Law : any video recording and audio recorders such as VCR , DVD and some Audio records and Blu-Ray recorders are implemented by U.S. Government to assist Hollywood in their efforts to prevent coping of their Precious commodities. Also if hooked up to certain TV's or Receivers, you may not be able to view certain programing with signals attached. maybe you can search the internet for devices to help you out for your way around for your personal use. (Video enhancers)
