“Recording through cable cox Can you have this machine hooked up to your cable box/DVR (provided by Cox Communications) which is connected to an HD TV, be able to view television shows in HD, and also set the timer to record a program at some time later? The DVD/VHS record I now have - it's probably ten years old - does not allow me to record through cable box. I can only record from the TVs that are connected through the wall. Thanks.”

• My Comcast cable box has a "record" setting under menu that allows shows to be recorded by somehow removing signal resistance which increases when you try to record to distort the signal. Cable company's way of privacy rights protection

• I hook up my dvd/vcr combo recorder player to my HD TV and cable box with a hdmi cable, but it can be connected with other older style cables. the cable box records the shows. even when the dvd recorder is connected to the cable box, it is not shown in HD. if the cable is connected through the wall to the dvd recorder, then it can be scheduled to record.
