Yes, this is a very good basic, all around laptop. I use it for all the same things you are and I am finishing a master's degree with no issues. I am not doing anything too complicated and it works great. I have found the AMD to fall behind Intel but for the price, it is good value. The laptop runs better when plugged in and be sure to get wireless mouse as the touch pad is not very good. Be sure to search on how to speed up Windows. You will like having this laptop for the price you will pay.
