No, each extender has its own identity so if you have 2 extenders plus the original router you have 3 devices showing up on wifi.. Sounds awkward but its not. Pick the extender that's closest to you with the strongest signal and use that one. I really don't know how far they extend but I have one extender two floors down from the router and it works fine. If you want a more robust set up you should check with a router expert. You may be better served by getting a more powerful router with a larger range than a bunch of extenders.
