A Gateway is a Router and a Modem in 1 Box. This Router is just a router. You would need a separate DSL Modem to start with. But I can almost guarantee that this router is far superior to one supplied by them, although I have never seen or used one from them. If it's like the BGW210-700 listed on Amazon they run about $60 to $75 and the reviews are not that great. Anyway, I hope this helps.
