Hi Dean, Wi-Fi Extenders need to be configured or synchronized with the Wi-Fi network you wish to extend. There are multiple convenient setup methods, including WPS button synchronization, web browser, and TP-Link Tether app setup. The new extender will need to be configured to work with either the existing network or the other extender.
