You have to program this by pairing it up with your home network. Then unplugging it and re-plugging it in the area you want a stronger signal. Note: this did not work for us, we returned it and went with the eero mesh system which worked perfectly.

Generally, most users will extend their router's Wi-Fi signal using one of these devices by installing it in a location where the router's Wi-Fi signal is sufficiently stable, yet far enough from the router to receive the signal and extend it further. Alternatively, the device can be set up in Access Point Mode, where it is wired to the router via an Ethernet cable.
