• A:Answer You have to program this by pairing it up with your home network. Then unplugging it and re-plugging it in the area you want a stronger signal. Note: this did not work for us, we returned it and went with the eero mesh system which worked perfectly.

Q: QuestionThe specifications say that the range is 2800 sq ft, but that is a coverage area. Range is linear. 2800 sq ft of coverage would be about 30 ft range. Can someone shed clarity on if my math is right or their verbiage is wrong?

The range is calculated as a coverage area because home routers are essentially miniature "radio towers" that distribute an omnidirectional network signal from the broadcast point (the router). Wi-Fi coverage varies from one home to another based on factors including, but not limited to, placement of the router (central is typically ideal), obstructions (e.g., walls) between the router and connected devices, the density of the home's construction materials, which Wi-Fi band your devices are connecting to, and Wi-Fi interference from external sources.

We recommend relocating the unit to a position within your home where the router's Wi-Fi signal is sufficiently strong; yet far enough from the router to effectively extend its range. • A:Answer Yes, I’m sure that if the cable length does not exceed the standard cable length. In this case, the cable must be no more than 328 feet (100 meters). If your shop is on the larger size, it’ll help the signal strength range by mounting the extender around 8 to 10 feet or so.

(I’ve included a speed test from the first floor; the extender is installed on the second floor—see the attached picture.) Based on my experience with Wi-Fi in hospitality settings, one of the biggest challenges is the building’s age and construction. Concrete floors, walls, ceilings, and potential metal ceilings can all impact the wireless signal. Here are a few tips to improve your Wi-Fi extender’s performance: • Try to mount the extender higher up, rather than placing it lower to the ground. • If possible, aim the extender toward the area where most users are located. In some cases, you may need two extenders because the signal can be blocked or split by the building’s structure. Normally, one extender would be enough, but challenging environments might require more.
