Hi, The camera requires a sufficiently stable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network connection at its installation location. For example, if you take your smartphone to the carport and attempt to connect to your home's Wi-Fi network, but are unable to pick up its signal, it is unlikely that the camera will be able to connect either. Depending on your home layout and network extension options, an extender may be something worth considering.
