You should check on the specific GSM bands it operates on--different countries used different bands, so even though it will be a GSM phone, there might be some problems with compatibility in different countries. Don't know about international plans, since its been some time since I was overseas. At that time, you would just walk into a local store at whatever your location and buy a plan for your time there. I believe that the Lyca Mobile has, or had, international plans, but can't swear to it.
