When you activate your phone, you must also buy a plan, which consists of minutes, messages, megabytes and days. You can charge it to a credit card. You can also buy a prepaid plan card from a dealer and enter the number of the card when you activate the phone. Activation can be done online at tracfone.com (the recommended method) or by calling the toll-free number. Before the plan expires, you must buy and load another plan to keep your service active.
