In order to opt for 'Married Filing Jointly' or 'Married Filing Separately', you have to meet certain eligibility criteria. These options are available to those who were married as of December 31st, of the tax year. Once you've installed your software, start the program and click Begin. From there, you can either start a new a new return or pull one up that you previously started. So long as you don't Finish and File your return, you can enter "Married Filing Jointly" and "Married Filing Individually" on different returns to compare outcomes.
