When I first got this head set I did run into a few issues with the Mic, my friends basically said I sounded far away when I was talking straight into the Mic. I updated the software by connecting it to my computer and it's been totally fine since then.

Please try again later.I'm not sure of the exact date of the most recent firmware update, but I would definitely recommend updating them prior to use- especially if you're going to be using them for chat. After reading all the reviews and prior to purchasing them, the mic quality was my number one concern. However, after my testing I can be heard clearly in public matches, parties, and using Bluetooth to take a phone call with them. IMO, the people that say these are terrible even after the firmware update are comparing them to a boom mic, which will always have better quality. You shouldn't buy these $300 headphones if mic quality is your number one priority. There are much cheaper headphones for that. You buy these for all the other awesome features- ones that the Astro A50s don't have.

You have to download Turtlebeach's update software to a PC, then update. Also, you must have the charging dock connected with headset craddled.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I bought my 800X on September 26th and the mic sounds perfectly fine out of the box. I only turned mic monitioring on (its off by default) and made sure the chat volume itself was turned up to a decent volume. I tested using Upload Studio, party chat and Fireteam chat on Destiny and got no complaints.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Software update via a PC. You need to connect both the Headset and the Base Station to the same computer with 2 usb cables. The headset comes with only one. Should be fine after the update. I had no issues since Day 1 that I pre-ordered the headset.
