Recon 70 headset microphone does not work if plugged directly into an xbox one controller. I have tried everything to troubleshoot this issue, with no luck. Very disappointing and frustrating.

Should plug directly. Into the controller however you may consider an adapter so it will be easier to adjust chat volume VS game Volume

It depends on the age of your controller. The one with the Xbox one x has a port this will plus directly into without an adaptor.
