“In the description it says $101.99 from open box what does that mean”

Open box means it either can be currently on display in the store or it can be a stand that a customer purchased & then returned it to the store.

It is an excellent tv stand with 3 configurations, complete with all the attachments to make them work. That being said, when you lay it all out, it can be a bit daunting looking at all of the upcoming assembly. I did get mine put together, and it is solid. If you have some room and a little mechanical know how you will succeed. PS Make sure if it is open box, it still has all the necessary parts.
