Yes, the TV remote doesn't have channel buttons or any of the controls you'd find for controlling channels (search, favorites, etc). Insignia strictly wants the Roku remote to be used for it's many apps and features on the TV and stresses the use of either universal or set-top remotes for controlling your cable or satellite (which will easily be routed through the TVs smart menu)
