“Will the camera work plugged into the cigarette lighter with the car off? Or do I need batteries to keep it running when the car is off?”

• It depends on your vehicle. The power port on some cars has power even when the car is turned off others do not. Our Buick and Blazer both have the power on but my old Chevy truck and GMC Van do not. The battery life on this unit is very short. Maybe 10 minutes at the most.

• While the car is on the unit will charge. when the car if=s off the unit will run on the built in battery while in parking mode.

• Yes, it will work if plugged in to the lighter outlet, but only if the lighter is powered when the engine is off. Otherwise you’ll be running the camera on its battery.

• Mine will record when it detects motion when if the car is off as long as it is plugged into the cigarette outlet.
