Customers are saying
Customers frequently mention the DC4 Dash Camera's excellent video quality both day and night, reasonable price, and user-friendly interface. However, they also express concerns about its short battery life, limited memory card capacity, parking mode draining the battery, occasional false emergency recording triggers, and the suction cup not being secure enough.

Perfect fit
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera fits perfect behind my rear view mirror so it's not distracting at all. My goal was to have a camera that would record automatically once my vehicle was powered on and this did just that. I found that it also had the option to record motion after the vehicle was parked and off. The problem with this is that the internal battery doesn't last very long at all and so it only stays in parking mode for about 20 to 30 mins. So if your getting this for the parking mode, look at a different model otherwise this camera does great work while driving. I did have a problem with the SD card that came with it. That only worked for a few days then crashed. I took it back to Best buy thinking they could replace the card only but they wanted to replace the whole camera because it came part of the package. I opted to just buy a 64Gb card instead. Speaking of SD cards, each file recorded at 5min intervals creates a 555Mb file on the card so this allows for about 30 mins of recording before it starts to loop over the recordings on file. So I highly suggest getting a bigger card at time of purchase.

My first dashcam
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great dashcam to aid you in the special case of someone backing up on your vehicle and claim you rammed them from behind. There are a lot of jerks out there so this is a protective measure against this. The 8GB SD is lacking, I had to upgrade to 32 and I don't drive as much. You can always delete/purge footage to free up most of the storage or move the videos to a computer. It's a good camera for the deal of the day price. I won't buy it at full price, no way. The motion/collision/lane departure detection is great however I has to silence it as it was beeping for every single thing, be it changing lanes or driving behind some other car, it was annoying. I think I will be upgrading to a newer more complex model soon. Dash cams will become the norm very soon, newer dash cams should be able to generate a full fledged incident report that includes gps location, images of the area, images and video footage of incident, speed limit from GPS, speed reading from cars involved as well as sound bites. Also you should be able to upload or key in insurance information into the cam's software so an accident report will be generated and transmitted to the police. This way you no longer need to wait for a patrol car unless there are injuries involved. Sadly this type of automation might result in reduced police force size. Be safe everyone.

So far, so good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the second dash cam that I have owned. Set-up was very easy. I'll update my review later since I've only had it for about a week. My only complaint so far is that the windshield mount suction cup does not seem to hold very well. I t has fallen off about six times.

Great Dash Cam
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was not expecting this camera to have great video but it does. The video is clear but not clear enough to read license plates but it will work for what I need it to do.

Nice Quality / Bad Card
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had the camera for 4 days when the SD card went out. took it into a local BestBuy and in order to replace the 8gb card they wanted to replace the whole camera and since I ordered it online I would have to wait several days for it to be replaced. I decided to just but a larger SD card. Note: the 8gb card is only good for about 30 mins of video recording before it cycles through the files. Each 5 min. recording is 555Mb in size.

Q: QuestionTHERE SHOULD BE A CONNECTION TO BE USED IN THE CIGARRETTE LIGHTER ( FOR POWER) AND A USB CABLE FOR PLAYING WHATEVER THE CAMERA FILMED, IN A REGULAR PC . IS THIS THE TRUTH?? TWO DIFFERENT CABLES FOR TWO DIFFERENT PURPOSES??? AN ANSWER, PLEASE??
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Yes this is how it is. You can also remove the micro sd card and plug it to your computer. No need for the redundant usb connection. Leave the camera in the car and download the footage from the SD card.

Q: QuestionWhat's the biggest micro ad card I can install in it,32,64,or 128?
Asked by DeputyDawg.
- A:Answer I experimented with a couple of different size micro SD cards, not knowing at the time what the max memory was that the Uniden DC4 dash cam could support. The sales associate told me I could put in any size micro SD card, but that is clearly not the case. Initially I purchased a class 10, 128GB. This didn't work at all, the DC4 cam couldn't even format the card without throwing an error or freezing. Videos would record but they appeared as dark images on the dash cam and would freeze the unit if I tried to play them. On a PC running Win 10 even VLC player couldn't play them, unsupported file type error. I then searched forums and degraded to a 32GB, class 10. No luck here either. I'm curious to hear from the others that posted here if they all are using a class 6 for speed. In my case, using the 32GB, class 10, the Uniden DC4 dash cam had no issues formatting the card, but after recording a few I tried replaying them and it would freeze the unit up. Placing the micro SD card into a PC resulted in unrecognizable file type errors, all showed extension of .mov. I tried converting them to different video formats as well, .avi and .mpeg but no success playing them either. So I've switched back to the original 8GB class 10 micro SD card that sold with the unit and it works. Windows 10 media player isn't playing the sound on any of the clips but using QuickTime Player on my MAC they work perfectly. This is a bummer and I'd love to hear more feedback from others using anything higher than the 8GB micro SD card.

Q: QuestionWill the camera work plugged into the cigarette lighter with the car off? Or do I need batteries to keep it running when the car is off?
Asked by Lorik.
- A:Answer It depends on your vehicle. The power port on some cars has power even when the car is turned off others do not. Our Buick and Blazer both have the power on but my old Chevy truck and GMC Van do not. The battery life on this unit is very short. Maybe 10 minutes at the most.

Q: QuestionI am looking for a camera to put into the vehicle for a new driver... How well will this one work for that purpose?
Asked by PapaSteve.
- A:Answer For the money it's not a bad price. At first I was having trouble getting the suction cup to stay on the windshield. It's stays fine now...but I'd caution a new (actually any) driver to not get all hyper if it falls off. Tell them to keep their eye on the road and pull into a parking lot to reaffix it. I was told I could replace the 8GB microSD card with a 64GB...but none of my 64GB's would format. Other than that.... It's not a bad cam...
