The data balance option on the device works sometimes, but you can look it up on your Account with Verizon website. Strange enough you have to make sure you have enough "data balanace' to check your balance other wise you will have to call customer service to ask and potentially re-load your data balance. I thought it was kind of ironic that the balance inquiry counts against your data plan, most carriers don't do this. but I think they also have an e-mail/text option to warn on low balances.
