There are people who use mobile data services in this way. The question of data is a difficult one to answer without knowing what type of work you would be doing and the types/volume of files with which you would be working. If you can get a good data connection from that location, the service might be usable. Verizon has started to offer flavors of unlimited data plans again so this could be something to research for a hotspot. Depending on the costs and availability it might turn out to be a workable solution.
