• Yes, the back cover pops off and you have to briefly remove the battery to insert the SIM bard and micro-SD card for expanded storage. Very simple process. The battery is a Motorola GK40 3.8V lithium ion.

• Yes the Moto G4 Play phone has a removable battery ... the battery is packaged separate from the phone in the Verizon packaging box.
