I do believe that as long as it is a regular family plan customer service should not have any problems moving the phone and the number. You will want to call from a phone that is not the one you are adding. If it has anything to do with a post paid plan I could not tell you. When doing the switch though I would call customer service instead of visiting their store, it's quicker and they won't waste your time trying to upsell you.
