The lower setting is quieter and a liitle less moisture. I run mine on this setting 24/7 and its perfect. The higher setting is much louder. Not so great for sleeping i felt.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It has to do with how dry your air is and the moisture required. This was purchased earlier due to an excessive amount of dry air drying out our sinus passages with the new furnace. It was a very good purchase.

Low will draw less air through the filter, and would be best for maintaining room humidity in most cases, and high draws more air through the filter, making it better at increasing the humidity in the air.
