I have been using it to make digital videos on my computer. It gives you the option to record to hard drive instead of a DVD. It has a Wizard setting where you just make some simple choices like to DVD or computer and then record. It's pretty simple and works good.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It worked for me. I had over 50 VHS tapes with any thing from 1 to 2 minutes videos to over 1 and 1/2 hour video, and I was able to transfer to a external hard drive thru my laptop. My wife and I now watch old family movies on laptop and have the option to fast forward as we wish. Now I can make copies to thumb drives for my children. I was a bit time consuming and I just copied, but after I got the hang of it, I did not have to sit at laptop continually. I have thrown the 50+ VHS tapes away.
