“I have a Vizio sound bar that worked great for the past 3 years with an older Samsung 46”. Just bought a new 65” Samdung and had to add the optical, infrared connector. Now the sound periodically goes out and it says FMT error on the sound bar. WTF?”

Why would you not use the HDMI? Fiber optics are on their way out for a reason.
