If I wall mount this can I still use the HDMI? The manual advises that connection provides best sound, but the opening is unidirectional so there is a place for cord to plug in below the sound bar, but no notched opening for HDMI to go up to TV null

Wall mounting the Visio M21d-H8R on the included two brackets will stand off the soundbar from the wall about 1/4" allowing enough room for cables to go up to TV.

Yes. I used the HDMI cord that came with the sound bar.
