At VIZIO we pride ourselves on our highly rated picture quality. To make sure you’re getting the most out of you VIZIO TV, we’d recommend making sure your devices are connected with an HDMI cable, and are set to broadcast in 4K (2160p) or Full HD (1080p). You can also individually adjust your picture settings in the menu. For brighter rooms try using the ‘Calibrated’ setting, for darker rooms try ‘Calibrated Dark’.

We use it on the wall in front of our treadmill and, for that purpose, it suffices. But if you're looking for a breathtaking contrast ratio, you're probably going to have to spend more money *and* buy a bigger TV. I'd note that there are almost no 1080p HDTV's being manufactured anymore in the <32" category. If you want something small like this TV, this will probably be the best you will find. Nearly all the competing sets are 720p. The picture quality is noticeably lower on those sets.
