“Will mounting this sound bar directly under my tv effect the sound coming out of the upward facing speakers in the sound bar? I understand that it was intended for sounds to bounce off the ceiling. Will my tv get in the way of this?”

For me, I had it mounted on the bottom, despite it being dolby atmos. Whenever it was active, I felt I couldn't hear the effects well enough to tell the difference. So, if you really don't want to take the chance, try mounting the sound bar on top of the tv and it will still reach the ceiling. For me, it wasn't that big of a deal.
