For Atmos and DTS-X contents, I found the direct connection to the soundbar to be much more reliable. As my TV has only an ARC but not eARC port, I found handshaking issue between the device and the soundbar very often. Now I am using a 4k HDMI 4 to 1 switch to connect to one of the HDMI port on the soundbar for my BluRay player and Chromecast with Google TV while my nVidia Shield 2017 plug into the other HDMI port. I got Atmos on Netflix with Chromecast and on Disney+ with Shield reliably.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This soundbar has arc/earc. You can connect all your devices to the tv for video. Then run the HDMI cable from the eARC port of the soundbar to the HDMI ARC or eARC port on your tv and you'll get sound. That's what arc is for, it works both ways. The soundbar passes video too. If you only had 2 devices, you could use the 2 inputs and earc to your tv for video.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You would have to purchase a 4 port HDMI switch box,4 of your device's go to the box and your fifth goes directly to the bar. it's almost like my set up I 4 device's I have 3 going to the box and 1 directly to the sound bar.
