“So I'm confused about the tuner being absent from the tv...I don't have a cable box but I just get brighthouse cable through a cable cord coming from the wall... would this work ti screw in this tv directly or you have to have an actual cable box? Thanks!”

This is not a TV but a monitor. It has no tuner so you would need some type of box.
