The tablet is the main remote control that you will use for casting to the tv. The tablet and the casting go hand in hand. I hope you have wi-fi. If you want to play Netflix, you pull it up on the tablet and it is cast onto the TV screen. There are thousands of apps that you can do this with, and your android smartphone can also be used like the tablet if you download the Vizio Casting app. It should also come with a cradle that constantly charges the tablet. That's all I want to type on the matter. You should really do research and understand what you are buying in the future, as you did not buy a TV, you bought a Display, there is no tuner inside, so you need cable/fios/dish/satellite boxes or you will have to buy a digital tuner for over the air broadcasts. I can't explain all of this here and what you bought and how it works but good luck, you bought a great display. I hope you learn how to use it.
